The Stones Get Exiled Right Into My TV

A few reasons I love technology

My wife and I have a nearly 2 year old little girl, and since she rocked our world about 20 months ago, our entertainment options have been fairly limited.  A few weeks ago I broke down, ponied up the $9 a month and subscribed to Netflix.  I've always seen the value in it, we just never had the time to sit down and watch things.  Last night I streamed my first movie, Stones in Exile, the Rockumentary of the Rolling Stones making of Exile on Main Street.  I wasn't sure what to expect from the quality or speed of upload.   I was surprised by both.  Full on HD, downloaded in less than a minute.  Pretty sweet.

While watching the movie, I grab the 16 gig iPod Nano to shoot a quick video of my daughter dancing to Ventilator Blues, great song.  I love this thing.  I didn't buy it for the video capabilities. I bought it for its convenience, size,  ease of use and storage capacity.   The video quality is clearly not as good as a Flip, as demonstrated below, but the Nano's flexibility is hard to argue.  It holds a couple thousand songs and is small enough to not even notice on a run. Simply, it's a great non-wireless music device that does a couple of other things fairly well.

Bottom Line:  Innovation around convenience and ease of use will go a long way as technology continues to improve.  Just ask Blockbuster.
