The Extra 5%
Give a little to get a lot
I was at Zoe's in Columbia waiting on my lunch date, when one of the runners asked me if I could use a drink while I waited. She didn't ask me to pay, just handed me a cup and said just grab what you need while you wait. A small gesture, sure, but at a restaurant I had never been to, it went a long way. When you think about it, the only thing she had to lose was maybe 5-10% of the total sale, assuming I chose not to pay for it. I eventually ordered my food and did in fact pay for my drink, but it got me to thinking, what little things can we do to build advocates within our own client base?
We spend a lot of time talking about this extra 5-10% for our clients. Can we submit their site maps to search engines every month to boost their SEO? Can we add a new feature or plug in to the CMS for one client, then turnaround and add for everyone else? Can we host a webinar teaching our clients how they can make their site more SEO friendly? Can we hold ourselves to simple industry best practices, like breadcrumbs and integrated searches, to make it easy for our clients' clients to bee bop (my word for navigate) around their site with ease?
Bottom Line: What can you do for your clients before they even ask you? Figure out the extra 5-10% for your clients and they might just tell their friends.
