The New Normal: Flux
We've heard the cliches and the rhetoric about the New Normal, which many dismiss and assume things will go back to normal. Merge has seen this Newness settle in over the years, and it has nothing to do with the great recession.
The problem is that there is nothing Normal about the New.
The New Normal is flux. The New Normal deals with things today that weren't invented yesterday. The New Normal deals with kids in dorm rooms creating billion dollar companies (can you say, "Who moved my cheese?").

You Only Have One Shot at Making a Web Impression
Today I was looking for a local company to provide a service to Merge for which we'll end up paying 1,000's of dollars in the years to come. In other words, I'm looking to hire a company to provide a pretty significant service. I didn't know where to start, so I turned to my friend, Google.
I couldn't believe the state of the web sites I visited.
...Saying No
Saying Yes is easy. We all do it. We say yes so often that we find ourselves in pickle, committing to too much because we didn't have the guts to say No.
Saying No takes guts. Especially to prospects and clients. But if you say Yes too much you will find yourself with a business that stands for nothing and a set of products or services that aren't differentiated.
Steve Jobs said, "Focusing is about saying no. You’ve got to say no, no no and when you say no you piss off people."

He did it again!
Today Google yet again tries to take over the web. This time with Dart. Though the technology was announced some time ago the news is still fresh.
