Upon its release, both Google and the public lauded Google+ for its functionality. Circles for selective sharing and Hangouts for free conferencing (or really just watching Youtube videos with friends) were new additions to the social media landscape. Smaller features, like instant photo uploads via the mobile app, as well as uploading photos from your desktop or laptop, were incredibly slicker, easier to use and more intuitive than anything Facebook had come up with to date.
